NKOB/BSB: Massive Man-Boy Band hits Edmonton July 12

Observers have long noted that the Backstreet Boys is just another New Kids on the Block. Now we’ll get a chance to compare them live when both play Rexall Place on July 12. This boybandbonanza is part of the new NKOTBSB Tour – suggesting the formation of a massive man-boy band — which has added 16 dates due to “overwhelming demand” following their double bill performance closing out Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2011.

The New Kids, which originated in the mid-‘80s, are far from gone. The new and improved original boy band played Edmonton in 2008, and brought along as a warm-up act some big-nosed porno-pop queen nobody had ever heard of – Lady Gaga. Thanks a bunch, NKOTB. The Backstreet Boys were less than impressive at Rexall in 2010, drawing only 5,000 fans — especially when the power went out and the boys were left hanging without their pre-recorded backing tracks. Better luck this time.
