Metallica to rock Edmonton for second show – first one SOLD OUT

Edmonton is so totally a Metallica kind of town.

The band has added a second show – happening Saturday Aug. 18 at Rexall Place – because the Friday Aug. 17 show has already sold out. Tickets ($49.50, $89.50 or $125) for the new date are on sale now. The only other Canadian date announced so far is Vancouver on Aug. 24 – they added a second show, too.

With new music in tow, including a collaboration with Lou Reed they might not get to, and what is said to be an “out of control” in-the-round stage, Metallica was last in Edmonton in 2008, drawing a throng of 18,000 black-shirted fans to the arena, and prompting some overheated critics to declare it “the concert of the decade.” There’s a new decade to gush over, of course. Expectations are high, to say the least. Metallica is not the biggest so-called heavy metal band in the world by accident. Sorry, Ozzy, even you can’t fill Rexall Place twice.
