Tickets go on sale Friday for the return of veteran grunge rock band Stone Temple Pilots, at the the Shaw Conference Centre on Wednesday, Sept. 12. Featuring the flambouyant and occasionally unstable lead singer Weiland, the band was going to be working on new material in the studio, but it appears a new record will have to wait for the tour – behind 2010’s Grammy-nominated self-titled reunion album, which was only prevented from hitting No. 1 by the Glee soundtrack.
Meanwhile, California’s veteran punk rockers Strung Out have just announced they will be making a return trip to Edmonton, headlining the Starlite Room on Saturday, July 21. Tickets are on sale now.
Fans of the band should be extraordinarily pleased, as the last time they were in town, April 2011, they played a short set opening for another legendary band, Face To Face. This tour, titled “Twisted In A Suburban Wasteland,” will feature tracks from 1996’s “Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues” and 1998’s “Twisted By Design.”
The band has released seven studio albums in total, the most recent being 2009’s “Agents Of the Underground.” Last year when they played Edmonton they were touring in preparation for the release of their most recent compilation album, titled “Top Centers – The Best of Strung Out.”
