SONiC Boom 2015 to happen on real grass

SONiC Boom GigCity Edmonton

No climbing on the thing

Overheard at Sonic Boom 2015 (from the future):

Hey, man, what’s that wrinkly thing with the green stuff all over it?

It’s a tree, dude! They’re all over the place!

Cool, can we smoke it?

Well, anyway, there’s good news on the Edmonton concert front: The SONiC Boom alternative rock festival has been moved from an ugly stinky hot parking lot to a beautiful park. The event will now take place Sept. 5-6 in Borden Park, located along 112 Street just south of the old location at Northlands. There are trees, and a spray park, and real grass – you know, the green stuff they have on lawns. Used to be only SONiC Boom VIPs could enjoy real grass. Why didn’t they do this before?

“Beautiful Borden Park is going to make a great home for SONiC BOOM,” said promoter Dave Johnston in a press release. “Our fans asked for it, and we listened. So bring your blanket, have a sit in the grass, and enjoy two days of amazing music.”

The reformation of Alexisonfire is the extent of the amazing music announced so far for the two-day fest. The full line-up announcement will happen this Wednesday, April 29 at 8 am – heard first on Sonic Radio 102.9 FM, whose brand of alternative rock is being celebrated here.
