Backstreet Boys back in Edmonton, never really went away

If music trends move in generational cycles, we’re back to the era of boy bands and girl groups again.

In the wake of the Spice Girls reformation, the Backstreet Boys are back, though they never really went away long enough for us to miss them during the entirety of their remarkable 26 year career – remarkable because they’re still huge a generation later. Technically they qualify for nomination to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Early Backstreet fans are now moms who will surely be taking their daughters to the show in Edmonton, on Thursday, July 25, at Rogers Place. Tickets start at $39 and go on sale Wednesday, Nov. 14. Those in the know will check for pre-sales.

The “DNA World Tour” – for the new album of the same name coming out Jan. 25 – is said to be the Backstreet Boys biggest tour in 18 years, where once, back in the day, they played stadiums. They have high hopes for their new single Chances, co-written by Shawn Mendes.

According to the tour announcement press release, so we can imagine it’s serious, all five members of the Backstreet Boys recently “analyzed their individual DNA profiles,” to determine, it reads, “how their individual strains, when brought together, create the unstoppable and legendary Backstreet Boys.”

Now that’s some high science! They explain it in the video below:
