Guitar loving Slash returns to Edmonton

For his reputation as the mad hatter of rock ‘n’ roll, the one thing that Slash loves to do best is obvious – he loves to play guitar.

He played with Guns N’ Roses, and on his own, and with practically anybody and everybody you can name. He’s one of these guys you’d meet at a party who’d probably have a guitar with him at all times, while eating supper, watching TV, hanging out with friends. It wouldn’t surprise us a bit of Slash slept with his favourite Gibson. He has many. Scandal! He’s polyamorous – or maybe that’s polyphonic.

In short, guitar lovers rejoice: Slash will return to Edmonton this summer with his “other” band, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. They’ll play the Edmonton Convention Center (formerly known as the Shaw Conference Centre) on Saturday, July 20. Tickets are $59.50 and go on sale Friday.

To give you an idea of this 53-year-old guitarist’s prolificacy, consider that since he was here with the Conspirators in2015, he did a world tour with them, then with Guns N’ Roses (which came to Edmonton in 2017; read review here), and still had time to work on two albums and a number of side projects – all of which involve lots of guitar playing, needless to say. Slash had also played with Velvet Revolver (featuring the late Scott Weiland) and Slash’s Snakepit, to name two.

This tour with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators (which includes Canadian Todd Kerns from Age of Electric) is in support of the band’s third and latest studio album, Living the Dream – and yes he is.
